Clonmacnoise ist ein fr\u00fchchristliches Kloster, das Mitte des 6. Jahrhunderts von dem irischen Heiligen St. Ciar\u00e1n am \u00f6stlichen Ufer des Flusses Shannon gegr\u00fcndet wurde. Die Anlage umfasst die Ruinen einer Kathedrale, sieben Kirchen (10. \u0096 13. Jahrhundert), zwei Rundt\u00fcrme, drei Hochkreuze und die gr\u00f6\u00dfte Sammlung fr\u00fchchristlicher Grabplatten in Westeuropa.<\/p>\n
